It is not always possible to use a mains operated energiser as a lot of electric fencing is positioned out in the fields miles away from a mains power source. Battery and battery/solar energisers give you the freedom to have an electric fence system where ever you need it. But with these kinds of systems comes extra maintanence that is not required for a mains operated system. It is often at this time

Which 12v Battery Do I Buy For My Electric Fence
We have lots of information to share with you about which batteries we would recommend for electric fences.
We always recommend the use of Leisure or Agri batteries with electric fencing. They are designed to be discharged and then re-charged whereas car batteries are quicker release and are recharged constantly by the vechile and therefore don't last long on an electric fence. PREMIUM 3 REEL SYSTEM - 500M 9 STRAND TURBOBRAID WITH GEARED REELS this amazing system has been made even better by changing the polywire to braided polywire - so instead of it being twisted its braided for strength its 1mm thicker (3mm in total) and has a higher breaking strain of 105 kg, so zapper and stronger (all you need to make it even better is for someone to put the fence up for you)
Why would you use this three reel system?
There are many applications for Three Reel Systems and they are employed for many different reasons: to facilitate strip grazing, to fence off seasonal sheep/cattle grazing, to protect walls or hedges, and as a temporary barrier. These fences are quick and easy to put up and likewise take down and store. Theses systems are a semi-permanent and sometimes a permanent solution to livestock containment and can be made into any configuration.

As winter draws in it is time to double check that your battery is in tip top working order.
Battery Tips:
- Think about covering your battery. As the temperatures drop so does the battery's efficiency. Stand your battery on a wooden box, cover with a bucket to keep frost, snow, ice off. Make your battery like you when you go out ... cover up, stay as dry as you can and keep warm!
- Freezing weather on an unprotected battery will
