Batteries

Batteries: Which 12v battery do I buy?

We always recommend the use of Leisure or Agri batteries with electric fencing. They are designed to be discharged and then re-charged whereas car batteries are not.
We have the Leisure or Agri Batteries which are 12 V batteries and you can either have a 36 amp or a 75 amp one these batteries should have a life of 200 cycles so will last 5-7 years. If you do not let it fully discharge regularly.

12 V 36 AMP

This 36 amp/hr, re-chargeable 12v Sealed Agri Battery comes with full sealed and secured. For use with any 12v Battery Energiser in our range.

Although a charge will last approx 4 - 5  weeks we do recommend that they are recharged every 2 weeks or so to keep the battery in best condition. This battery has a depth of discharge of 70% and we have found that if allowed to discharge fully it could damage the plates and it will be very hard to get it to take a full charge properly again.

12 V 75 AMP

This 75 amp/hr, re-chargeable 12v Sealed Agri Battery comes with full sealed and secured. For use with any 12v Battery Energiser in our range.

The 75 Amp battery has larger terminals it is easier to use with solar assist panels.  You can fit the croc clips from the solar panel and the croc clips from the energiser on to the terminals much easier than if you used a smaller battery with smaller terminals.

Again although a charge will last approx 5 - 6  weeks we do recommend that they are recharged every 3 weeks or so to keep the battery in best condition. This battery has a depth of discharge of 70% and we have found that if allowed to discharge fully it could damage the plates and it will be very hard to get it to take a full charge properly again.

12 V 110 AMP

Leisure or Agri Battery - 12v fully sealed 110 amp/hr 12v fully sealed agri fencing battery. Sealed wet cell deep cycle leisure battery.

We always recommend the use of leisure and deep cycle batteries with electric fencing as, unlike car batteries, they are designed to be repeatedly discharged and then re-charged. This battery should have a life of 200 cycles and can last up to 2-7 years if treated correctly.

Although a charge will give you up to 4 - 5 weeks of life (depending on the consumption/power of the energiser you are running) we do recommend that they are recharged every 2 to 3 weeks or so to keep the battery in best condition. This battery has a depth of discharge of 70% and we have found that if allowed to discharge fully it can damage the plates and it will be very hard to get it to take a full charge properly again.

To charge the 36 amp, the 75 amp and the 110 amp battery you will need this charger: Battery Charger for 12v battery - up to 140 amp/hr

The 'Fit One Charge One Batteries and Charger'

Two 12v leisure batteries with battery charger. Fit one - Charge one is designed for worry-free fencing so you can use one battery and charge the other - and, the battery charger is included. Specifically designed for electric fencing systems.

Each battery is 35 amp/hr. Maintenance-free sealed leisure batteries. Magic eye charge indicator. Carrying handles. Weight 9 kg each.

The batteries used in this electric fence battery duo contain a large amount of energy for a small battery, making them ideal for electric fencing. Each battery could power an energiser, such as the Gemini 80, for about 2 -4 weeks.

This 12v battery duo is fitted with 'connect + forget' three stage charger. The charger quickly charges your battery as well as maintaining battery performance when the battery is charged. Whether the battery is fully discharged or not, you can simply 'connect and forget', leaving the charger connected for a day or a year, knowing that your battery is always in ideal condition.

We also have a range of 6v and 9v batteries which are non rechargeable.

Car Batteries

We do not recommend car batteries. Car batteries are fast release and only last a short amount of time... they are designed for the car to recharge them everytime they are used. Agri batteries are slow release hence they last longer and release their energery slower. So car batteries in the end are a false ecomonmy as you spend your whole life re charging.

Battery Care

Your battery has a life of 5 to 7 years so treat it well over the winter months and you will look after your animals for a long time. Don’t forget to have the correct charger for you battery voltage and amp size.
