Everyone at EFD is animal daft - living with dogs, horses and cats ... so we have decided we are going to give a wee bit back to our beloved animals and help support a F A N T A S T I C animal rescue charity called the Hillside Animal Sanctuary. Hip Hip Hurray for everyone working at this Sanctuary- you truly do amazing and invaluable work, thank you!
And we're particularly excited because we've managed to adopt this lovely wee girl, Candy Floss the Highland cow!

Today we visited Edinburgh Zoo
If like me you have not been since you were a child I reckon it is somewhere you should consider visiting again. The animals look well cared for and have relatively large enclosures - lots of things to do and see. http://www.edinburghzoo.org.uk/
The zebras were sheltering from the winter weather, the lions were relaxing after breakfast, the pandas were sleeping (apparently they can sleep for up to 16 hours a day!), the pelicans were preening and the flamingos

Ok so Guy Fawkes is fast approaching us and I am sure much like everyone I am looking forward to the fireworks BUT there are many many animals out there who do not like and are very afraid of them. Please if you are having a display you let the pet owners and farmers in the area know when it is on.
Below is some helpful information from the SSPCA
As November approaches, we have issued our annual warning that fireworks can have a serious impact on the welfare of animals and we are calling for tighter

Hello,
As I said last week we spoke about horse fencing. Today is the turn of netting and as today it is blowing a hoolie out there it makes sense to chat about it.
So your netting has been up for a wee while now and should be working great, with the winter months round the corner we suggest with all fencing you have a check of all the components and make sure you are as winter ready as possible.
Power and connections:
It does not matter if you are running off a battery or mains power have a look

Just a wee update on this one
Well hello there Spring, I have the windows in the office open and all I can hear is the beautiful sound of singing birds
Here I have set up a bird feeder that I can see on a daily basis easily and so the birds have cover from any cats in the area (we have 3 know resident cats).
I have been on the RSPB website but I was not in time to do the Big Garden Birdwatch so I am now doing my own (I am having to look up many of the birds as I have a limited

Pigs.
I think people think pigs are very dirty stinky animals but that is not true (although at the moment whilst they are spreading on the fields I am not loving pigs...) Yes pigs like to wallow in the mud (much like my dog......)
While it is well accepted knowledge that pigs wallow in mud in order to regulate body temperature and keep cool, but did you know it is also for their wellbeing. So a happy pig has food and water, shelter with bedding, a wallowing hole, a place to forage and interaction

So the Scots went South VERY far South and met up with the English for a spot of training and manual labour..........!
We had checked and rechecked the weather and it was to be wet VERY wet so you can imagine our delight when we arrive to the sun splitting the stones :-) and the use of sunglasses was welcomed over the use of water proofs.
Day 1
After welcomes, introductions and lunch we headed to work..
Well as you can see it was a nice view we had.
Our 1st job was to set up fencing to stop horses
