Electric fencing Used by Charities like the RSPB to Protect Animals

Summer Pasture Management

Our electric fences are used nation and worldwide to help all sorts of land-users get the best out of their land and to protect animals.

Electric fencing is used not only by farmers, small holders and by pony and horse owners but also in conservation efforts too.

We have sold numerous fences to the RSPB and to other wildlife organisations and have even sold fences to help protect Ancient Monuments and archaeological digs!

Above you'll see photos of a 3 line electric fence protecting the Ancient Monument from sheep during the lush summer months at Pen Toppen Ash Camp. Read more about this electric fence here

And the next 3 photos below were sent to us by the Wildlife Trust for Lancashire, Manchester and North Merseyside. This electric fence encloses Exmoor ponies rotation grazing part of a 12 Ha Biological Heritage Site in the West Pennine moors.
The fence is 2000 m long and the ponies are rotated between the valley bottom and the meadows at the top.  Electric fencing has provided the Wildlife Trust with a relatively cheap alternative to traditional wire fencing and they have reported back that the electric fencing was very easy to erect too :-)

Tensioned Electric Netting being used in Conservation Work

This picture below shows electric netting used by the RSPB on the Dee Estuary to protect a colony of Little Terns from predators. The nets have no protection from on-shore winds but were kept firm by tensioned wire supported on insulators on wooden posts.

Overnight Pasturing

The next 4 photos show horses being pastured overnight during the Warhorse Ride of 2014 using a simple electric fence comprising of a line of electric tape on plastic posts and running off a Shrike energiser. They are lovely photos and show how easy it can be to manage your livestock while on the move, with electric fencing. Click here to find out more about the Warhorse Ride
