The 'Garden Guardian'
The 'Garden Guardian' kit has been created to keep dogs (and cats) off specific areas, such as ponds, flower beds, seed beds etc. It comprises of three lines of a thin tape/polywire supported by push-in posts (all of which come in green). We also have a green electrified netting which is even more effective barrier.
Installation
Simply push in the posts and then thread the polywire or electrified tape through the slots in the posts, making sure the wire/tape does not touch any vegetation (this causes earthing i.e. power loss). The standard kits come with either 100m or 200m of polywire/tape and 10 or 20 posts together with a small battery energiser running off two D-Cell batteries. Alternatively, a small mains energiser or solar energiser could be substituted.
Electric netting, complete with push-in posts, is the most effective deterrent as it provides more of a physical barrier. This fence will also keep rabbits and badgers out of your garden. The nets can be erected and taken down quickly and easily, and then rolled up and stored with little fuss.
The fence can be powered by either mains or battery powered energisers, and as many nets as required can be fitted together. (The same nets will also keep out rabbits and badgers)
Ultra Sound
Another option for persuading dogs to stay away for specific areas is to use Ultra Sound. It is, however, important to ensure you have the whole area covered.
Movement is detected by an electronic eye which then triggers a burst of high frequency ultra sound which dogs (and cats) find uncomfortable and so move on outside the range.
